Answers to common questions and how to get in touch.
Frequently Asked Questions
My data disappeared after closing the web app
The web app stores data locally in your browser's IndexedDB. Clearing browser data or using private/incognito mode will wipe it. To protect your data, enable Cloud Backup in Settings (requires Pro). This syncs a backup to your Google Drive so you can restore across sessions and devices.
The Google sign-in keeps asking me to approve permissions
On the web app, Google authorization tokens can expire. Go to Settings → Cloud Backup and tap Clear Auth Cache / Reauth to reset the session, then sign in again. After a successful backup the prompt should not reappear until the token expires.
How do I restore a cloud backup?
Open the app, go to Settings → Cloud Backup, sign in with the same Google account you used to back up, then tap Restore from Cloud. This will overwrite your current local data with the backup from Google Drive.
Can I use the app on iPhone or iPad?
Yes — open dirtyhandstoolbox.com/app/ in Safari on your iPhone or iPad. For the best experience, tap Share → Add to Home Screen. This pins the app to your home screen so it launches full-screen like a native app.
What is Pro and what does it include?
The free version supports one vehicle with full assembly and parts tracking. Pro unlocks unlimited vehicles, cloud backup to Google Drive, PDF export, full maintenance history, and more. You can upgrade inside the Android app or via the in-app purchase on the web app.
How do I transfer my data from Android to the web app (or vice versa)?
Enable Cloud Backup on your Android device (Settings → Cloud Sync → Backup Now). Then open the web app, sign in with the same Google account, and tap Restore from Cloud. Your vehicles, assemblies, specs, and maintenance history will transfer over.
How do I export or share my vehicle data?
On Android, tap the share icon on any vehicle card to share a JSON package of that vehicle's full data. You can also export a full database backup from Settings → Backup & Restore → Export JSON and import it into another device.
The barcode / QR scanner isn't working
The scanner requires camera permission. On Android, grant camera access when prompted or enable it in your device Settings → App Permissions. The scanner is not available in the web app — use the Android app for barcode and QR scanning.
